Uncertainty. Some people thrive on it. Most don't. Consultants need to be in the first category. As a consultant, you may go through periods without a contract or any prospects of one. If you've done everything right, these dry periods shouldn't last too long. However, they can create anxiety, particularly if you have bills to pay, you haven't saved up much money, and you didn't plan on being unemployed. That is why it is so important, as a consultant, to keep your expenses low and to save money. Of course, if you follow the recommendations in this course, your periods without income should be minimized.
